Join us for the exclusive unveiling of Yasmine El Meleegy's latest solo exhibition at Mattress Factory!
El Meleegy was selected for exhibition by a panel of Mattress Factory alumni artists through the 2024 International Open Call. She is the third artist from the 2024 International Open Call cohort to hold an exhibition opening in Pittsburgh. Artists who have worked in residency with Mattress Factory offer a perspective unlike any other. They are deeply familiar with the museum, engaged in many aspects of the contemporary art field, and invested in pushing our exhibitions in new directions.

About Yasmine El Meleegy
Yasmine El Meleegy (b.1991) is an Egyptian multidisciplinary artist and sculptor living and working in Cairo. She holds a BFA in Painting from Helwan University in 2013, and a Diploma in Multimedia from Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Nimes in 2014. Before joining the MASS Alexandria independent art program in 2016. In 2023, she has shown her work in solo exhibitions titled "The Six Hundred Seventy Four Forms And A Dragon” at FOR Space, Basel, and “ To Mend Is To Shatter’’ at Gypsum Gallery, Cairo. El Meleegy also presented “Rites of Passage” at Townhouse Gallery, Cairo in 2018 and carried out a performative intervention titled “Scaffolding a Familiar Epoch” at Stephenson Pharmacy in Cairo, in 2021. El Meleegy's participation as a Mattress Factory's artist-in-residence marks her first exhibition opening in Pittsburgh.
